![]() Thank you for your comment! If Google thinks I'm interested in Grammarly, it is sadly mistaken. Maybe in the not-so-distant future, business professors will use Grammarly as one of their cases of how not to run an advertising campaign, unless the goal is to look desperate and faintly ridiculous. When I read through some of my students' essays, it looks like quite a few SMU students don't yet know they can have access to a watered-down version for free. Frankly, they'd be better off using some of the money they spend on such intense advertising to give some students access to the full version of Grammarly and encourage them to tell their friends. Why don't companies realize it makes them look desperate when they inundate the market with the very same ads? It just signals they don't think the product can do well with the average amount of advertising they'd spend on other products. I guess cheerful co-eds did better than stressed-out co-eds in beta testing. ("If you write anything, you need to get Grammarly!" says the cheerful co-ed sitting on a sofa before the first 5 seconds are up and I can skip the ad.) The other 5% of the time I see the one other ad they seem to have, which starts with a stressed-out young co-ed trying to write a paper late at night. 95% of the time I see the very same ad on YouTube. When does it all become too much advertising, i.e., a signal that a company is desperate for market growth?Īt least vary the ads, for heaven's sake. Frankly, when I see the extreme prevalence of Grammarly ads on YouTube, I have to wonder how much money they have to spare to spend such egregious amounts on advertisement. The monthly subscription rate is of $30/month, while longer subscriptions lead to smaller prices (for instance the annual subscription of $140/year is equivalent to about $12/month). Its business model falls within the class of freemium models, where a watered-down version is available for free and a full version is available at a fee, sometimes paid by universities for their students. Grammarly is a "cloud-based English-language writing-enhancement platform" (according to its Wikipedia description) positioning itself as a "writing assistant" improving proofreading but also targeting plagiarism-detection. Not too long ago I noticed I keep getting over and over AND OVER the same Grammarly advertisement. I admit it: at home I sometimes like watching YouTube videos when I need to take a break from grading. But then the other day I was shown a YouTube ad in Spanish and I don't speak Spanish, so perhaps the message is that there is still much progress to be made in helping YouTube properly target audiences in customized video ads.) I still don't understand why I as a university professor - not a student -have to be shown such ads. I'm not convinced that its recommendations, at least as shown in the ads, always make sense and the service has probably more of a future if universities pay for it rather than individual students. While Grammarly still seems to spend an inordinate amount of money in YouTube ads, at least the fact that YouTube now varies the videos makes it less off-putting. Shortly after I posted it, YouTube started varying the Grammarly ads it shows before videos. Other spots show that the writing-enhancement platform developed by Grammarly, Inc., is very helpful also when it comes to write an original term paper, with no mistakes in it, a first e-mail to your future team, or a selling offer.ĭeveloped in 2009 by Alex Shevchenko and Max Lytvyn, in Kiev, the app available for both IOS and Android, as well as via free browser extension for Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge, was awarded, in 2013, the “Gold Award” from TopTenReviews Best Online Grammar Checker Comparisons and Reviews with a rating of 8.88.( Updated June 2019: For some reason this has become one of my most viewed recent posts. ![]() Some practices will have more payors depending on the state or regional health insurance offered. This is because practices may have as many as 15 to 20 different payors, including Medicaid and Medicare. Because of this, practices need to manage the way they track and maintain this data, rather than repeatedly ask its providers.Įnrollments can be a long and painful process if not done properly. Credentialing initiates the gathering of the provider data that will need to be used for enrollments, hospital privileges, billing, and provider directories. Then, they must submit similar data to insurance companies, hospitals, and payers. Practices must gather the necessary data from their providers to get them credentialed. In fact, we inform our clients that they may begin providing and billing for services on the same day that we receive approval from a payor. At Zetter HealthCare, we provide continuous and thorough updates regarding credentialing. Hospital privileges occur when a provider receives the right to perform certain procedures and operations at a hospital. Hospital privileges, however, fall within the realm of credentialing. Medical credentialing is the vetting process for providers, whereas enrollment exists to “link providers to payors.” Contracts, on the other hand, are already established in order to ensure payment for services rendered. These names are both used to refer to provider enrollment, physician credential verifications, and hospital privileges. ![]() Different organizations sometimes call enrollment and credentialing by the same name. ![]() Notably, there has been some confusion between provider enrollment, credentialing, and privileging. For this reason, the healthcare industry and private practices can not afford to misunderstand the process or ignore it. Medical credentialing is a crucial component of the healthcare business strategy. Practices must understand and embrace credentialing and enrollments in order to operate. However, patience provides rewards in the form of revenue. Many practices and providers tend to want to rush the process or at least think the process can be rushed. Establishing the revenue cycle starts with credentialing conducted by insurance companies to enroll a provider and place them in-network. ![]() ![]() That’s a stunt to make John Cage reach for the remote, but Cale, a deeply serious Welshman with a handsome shock of dark hair, was devoted to shaking things up. Cale’s secret is that he gave a concert in which he performed the same piano piece over and over again for 18 hours. It then presents a kinescope of John Cale, one of the band’s two founding members, when he appeared on the CBS game show “I’ve Got a Secret” in 1962. The documentary opens with a quote from the French poet Charles Baudelaire (“Music fathoms the sky…”). And in “The Velvet Underground,” since he can’t rely on a conventional series of back-in-the-day music and interview clips, he resorts to telling what he sees as the grand hidden story of the band: how they emerged from the depths of an underground America - the beatnik heart of the early ’60s, and the avant-garde impulse that remade art culture. Haynes has always been drawn to underground stories and underground worlds: the shadow reality that shapes us. Yet the way that Haynes has fashioned the film isn’t simply a matter of cinematic practicality. You can tell that Haynes wants to take us as close to this band as possible, and if that means his entire documentary is going to have to be a kind of poetic sleight-of-hand trick, then so be it.Ī scrapbook of images that moves, “The Velvet Underground” immerses you in the band but still leaves them slightly out of reach. As a collage of the period, “The Velvet Underground” is dazzling: a hypnotic act of high-wire montage. He draws on the underground films of the period, which were often dream-play documentaries, and he divides the screen into sections, introducing the principals by playing their words off the flickering black-and-white images of their Warhol screen tests. (The Velvets hated Frank Zappa, so no pun intended.) Haynes appears to have vacuumed up every last photograph and raw scrap of home-movie and archival footage of the band that exists and stitched it all into a coruscating document that feels like a time-machine kaleidoscope. It’s called “The Velvet Underground,” and among other things it’s a fascinating study in how necessity becomes the mother of invention. The albums are there for all time, but as a historical presence the Velvets can seem a bit like a group of ghosts.īut now, the great director Todd Haynes has, at long last, made a documentary about the Velvet Underground. ![]() (It’s quite an irony considering that Warhol, the band’s mentor, was the first person to be notorious for filming everything around him, but there you go.) The Velvet Underground, whose music was a mesmerizing midnight trance-out, had no radio niche, no publicity, no “media,” no backstage verité Pennebaker or Maysles. Every time I’ve raised the subject with those in the know, the explanation comes down to: “There’s no footage.” What they mean is: There are random bits of footage, and plenty of photographs, but if you want to see the Velvets in their prime performing “What Goes On” or “White Light/White Heat” in a steamy rock club, or get a taste of what it was like to see the Exploding Plastic Inevitable (the hypnotic chug-a-chug of the band, the psychedelic blobs and Warhol films) at the Dom in New York City in 1966, or to see any full-scale concert clip that would allow you to experience the Velvets in a you-are-there, that’s-what-they-were-like way, you’re out of luck, because those clips basically don’t exist. There’s a reason we’ve never seen that film. So surely they deserve to be captured and memorialized in a film that does them justice. They are, along with the Beatles and the Stones, one of the three seminal groups in the history of rock ‘n’ roll. For years, I’ve been longing for someone to make a documentary about the Velvet Underground. Morgan Williams (03:27): And in my opinion, absolutely worth it for such a well-designed and handy tool. It's in many ways, surprisingly easy to learn and use kind of on the surface level, however, but it has a lot of depth to it. Now all of that comes with the cost of it being more complex. It allows you to create many, many different types of rigs, very complex rigs, as well as simple rigs, and is in many ways a kind of one-stop shop for character rigging and after effects. Morgan Williams (02:19): It does a lot of different things, both to aid with character rigging and animation, but it'll also help with all kinds of situations in after effects beyond just character work. It does what it does very, very well, but it doesn't do a whole lot else than what it does now do it facile on the other hand is a much more robust and comprehensive tool overall. Now on the flip side of that, it's simplicity comes with the cost of it being fairly limited. It's very quick to use, and it does what it does extremely well. Now, one of the real big advantages to rubber hose is that it's incredibly simple. But before we dive into some specifics, let's just talk about some kind of big overarching differences between the two. Now the simple truth is these are both great tools, and if you do a lot of character rigging, you really should have both of them as part of your toolkit. Morgan Williams (01:10): You can get started with my free tutorial on doing a basic Dwek rig, but my rigging academy course at school of motion will give you a much more complete and comprehensive look at how to rig characters in aftereffects with Dick Bassel. ![]() Now do it Bassel is much more complicated and there's a lot more to it. I'm going to focus more on their different strengths and weaknesses and why you might want to choose one over the other, or possibly a combination of the two when you're rigging characters. Bassel now in this video, I'm not going to do really any how to lessons in how to use rubber hose or do it facile. Morgan Williams (00:11): Hey everyone, Morgan, from school of motion here, I wanted to do a compare and contrast between two very popular character rigging tools that are available rubber hose and do quick. Best of luck on all your character animation projects! ![]() Each needs to be addressed as an entirely different case. We have Gen 3's that have issues and we have Gen 4's that have issues. Perhaps they estimate the costs of fixing this issue, outweigh the benefit of preserving their reputation of making a reliable pistol. They have no idea what the issue is and if they do, they are not communicating it to the public. Either that, or they have multiple opinions on what the cause is and are sending some people new extractors and others 30274 ejectors. So if Glock sent me 3 extractors, to "fix" extraction issues, I would say they performed admission right there with that action. How do I know? Because I was sent 3 "new" extractors (still dipped) from Glock to attempt to solve issues on Gen 3's I have. Glock has admitted that extractors were a problem. You, me, Randy, you name them, unless they are the engineer calling the shots at Glock, they can only assume, theorize and speculate what is actually going on with these guns and with Glock. The fact is, nobody truly knows what is happening, what changes Glock made to the late Gen 3 and Gen 4 pistols. I too have been following this for quite some time. When will they admit the extractor is also a contributing factor? (old ejector 336 changed to new ejector 30274) Glock has tried to improve the RSA (does not apply to glock 26) This, to me, was a reasonable speculation of what may have changed in glock's production methods and why the problem isn't quite as simple as "oh this is wrong." This is randy's explanation of the trifecta of issues that contribute towards the possible perfect storm that results in terrible glock performance. most people don't wanna data mine through the 2-3 fairly lengthy threads. i feel like so much of the information has been iterative over such a long period of time there's no real centralized place for the whole explanation. I think everyone that has been following this issue with glocks knows what's generally wrong and this part isn't direct at you, but for people who are just joining the conversation. So far it seems the problem is that they don't know what the problem is.i suppose i'm deriving my conclusion from these two posts in your thread. ![]() Jump up and enter the vent to your left.ĭrop down to your right and interact with both consoles to your left.
